Over fifteen years extensive and varied background in UNIX, Macintosh and PC networking, project management, analysis and problem solving. Over eleven years professional experience project management, administering large networks, and System Administration of high traffic services - with emphasis on access, integrity, and security. Professional Experiences:

 

Art Center College of Design, Pasadena, California                                         September 2003 – Present

Position: Manager, Network Services (June 2004 – Present)

· Responsible for Network Administration, Unix Administration, Windows Administration, and Telecommunications for Hilltop campus and Raymond campus.

· Member of planning committee for Design Resource Center, a new facility housing Techincal Service and Media Library.

· Supervised service and maintenance with Vendors, such as VLSystems providing administration of Exchange and Active Directory, and other Microsoft based services (DHCP, DNS, Domain Controllers, etc), SBC providing network and the wireless assistance, Netfxr providing ad hoc cable support at the Raymond and Hilltop facilities, and others.

· Managed and coordinated vendors in planning and implementing Art Center’s needs, including Fluke Networks providing an evaluation monitoring unit, and gathered cost comparisons between different vendors for specific projects.

· Successfully identified requirements and met interdepartmental needs, including Media Design Program wireless support, Application Services server farm architecture, Client Services troubleshooting documentation and Virus control support, and Educational Technical Services determining roles and responsibilities.

· Designed security model, including policies, firewalls, and combination network/host based intrusion detection. Designed a network solution for Application Services which allows front end web servers to talk to backend Database and Application Servers securely.

· Introduced network statistics, network maps, and combination network/host based intrusion detection.

 

Position: Senior Network Engineer, Network Services (September 2003 – June 2004)

· Acted as backup to Network Manger for all network and system support issues, including backup to Unix Systems Administrators for Network Appliance and NetBackup, and as backup to Windows System Administrator provided principal administration of Exchange and Active Directory, and other Microsoft based services (DHCP, DNS, Domain Controllers, etc).

· Provided guidance to junior analysts for technical direction while providing documentation resource both for Audit and for staff access, including basic network troubleshooting, bandwidth issues, tracking virus outbreaks, and port based issues.

· Principal administration of Firewall, Switches, Routers and other Internet related services. Introduced scheduled monthly maintenance windows.

· Identified pre-existing deficiencies in network layout and documentation, including bad ports, failed network devices, rogue wireless devices. Designed redundant and fault tolerance for network hardware, servers and services.

· Successfully migrated public network to new service provider, coordinating IP cutover and introduction of 4 T1 Inverse Multiplexing over ATM (IMA).

· Consolidated Backbone connections on Black Diamond, effectively upgrading ACCD backbone from 10Mbs to 100Mbs.

· Implemented the DS3 install between Raymond and Hilltop campuses with SBC.

 

Moviso, Los Angeles, California                                                                      February 2003 – September 2003

Position: Manager, Systems Engineering

· Managed a team of five whom administered the 80+ servers that power the Moviso network.

· Planned and managed a complete migration of Moviso’s production servers and services from VUnet network to the Moviso network without interruption of service.

· Budgeted complete migration of services and servers from Vunet to Moviso’s control.

· Negotiated Contracts and Service level agreements for corporate and co-located networks and services.

· Documented justification support for transfer of servers to Moviso’s co-located data center.

· Designed redundant and fault tolerance for network hardware, servers and services.

· Built and networked a co-located data center to house the Moviso network and servers.

· Developed network statistics, documentation resource, network maps, parts & server inventories.

· Designed security model, including policies, firewalls, and combination network/host based intrusion detection.

· Principal administration of DNS, WWW, FTP, database and other Internet related services.

· Migrated load balanced services from Cisco ArrowPoint to F5 BigIP solution.

ARTISTdirect/CNP Technologies, Los Angeles/Encino, California               October 1999 – March 2003

Position: Manager, Network Operations (September 2001 – March 2003)

· Managed a team of six, whom administered the 80+ servers that power the CNP network.

· Managed complete migration of ARTISTdirect's servers and services from CNP's network to the ARTISTdirect network without interruption of service.

· Built and networked a co-located data center to house the ARTISTdirect network and servers.

· Completely migrated infrastructure from leased equipment to scalable, non-leased solution.

· Developed and maintained network statistics, documentation resource, network maps, parts & server inventories, as well as automated switch portmap database.

 

Position: Senior Infrastructure Engineer (October 1999 - September 2001)

· Provided Guidance and leadership to a team of six, whom administered the 70+ servers, which powered the ARTISTdirect network, including training help desk personnel who successfully transitioned to the system administration team.

· Designed and implemented network for corporate headquarters, collocation facilities, and branch offices.

· Designed security model, including policies, firewalls, and combination network/host based intrusion detection.

· Principal administration of all backups, Email, DNS, WWW, FTP, database and other Internet related services and reporting, based on marketing and business needs.

· Designed redundant and fault tolerance for network hardware, servers and services.

· Provided secure VPN solution for clients in addition to network VPN for branch offices.

· Maintained, and later consolidated multiple remote collocation facilities.

· Installed and managed Enterprise backup solution.

Position: Systems Analyst

· Responsible for redundancy and fault tolerance for network services and servers.

· Performed project management of operational procedures, such as automating scheduled maintenance, log analysis, and backup.

· Recommended and implemented firewall and database server changes including kernel modifications to provide optimal security and availability.

· Designed back end email services; applied Anti-relay and SPAM control measures.

· Implemented Anonymous and Virtual FTP services.

 

Geocities, Santa Monica, California                                                                  January 1997 - June 1997

Position: System Administrator

· Presented and developed security policies and procedures. Identified potential vulnerabilities associated with existing and projected environments.

· Coordinated load balancing efforts across multiple networks and servers.

· Administered the 60+ servers that powered the Geocities network.

· Responsible for all aspects of AIC/SAIC's Internet connectivity and services including project management and implementation of T1 circuit to operational analysis and maintenance diagnostics to ensure proper and secure operations.
